It’s often said that, ‘It takes a village to raise a child. This is equally true when we think about the work that goes into the products we purchase; we rarely think about the work that goes into making these products. From the sourcing of the raw materials, to the weaving of the fabrics, to the glassblowers who make the globes for chandeliers. A lot of work goes into the products that you are considering.
The work involved in designing and constructing the products is a major feat in itself and the crafting of these products evolve over time. Over 250 years of history, for example, goes into making one of Lindsey Adelman’s Branching Porcelain Disk Chandeliers.
Each porcelain disk is made in Nördliches Schlossrondell in Nymphenburg, where they have been manufacturing porcelain since the 18th century. The process, history and beauty of their surroundings is captured wonderfully in this video.
