98.6F Lounge Collection

The 98.6°F Outdoor Collection is named after the body temperature we take for granted as "normal" which is in fact our bodies' highly calibrated ability to balance between a temperature too high or too low.

The furniture collection is also deceptively simple in its outward appearance: it is a versatile yet modest collection of wooden chairs and tables for everyday use that has great tectonic sophistication.

Made by De La Espada

De La Espada was founded in 1993 by Luis De Oliveira and Fatima De La Espada. Hailing from Porto and Madrid respectively and educated in London, the founders opened the first De La Espada store in London in 1996, when there was comparatively little quality contemporary furniture in the city. The De La Espada aesthetic evolved from influences including the Arts and Crafts movement, architects such as Tadao Ando, Luis Barragán, John Pawson, and Álvaro Siza, and Scandinavian design from the 1950s. De La Espada operated as a designer/manufacturer/retailer of our own products until 2007 when we began to enter into the second phase of the business.

Since 2007, we have taken a more collaborative approach, working closely with carefully selected design partners and retailers across the world, combining expertise and exchanging cultures, friendships, and ideas.

Materials & Options

Black oiled oak.

When conditions are dry, which can be in any season, cracks may appear in your oak furniture. These may be up to 1mm wide and, in most cases, up to 10-20mm long, and will be visible on the ends of planks or chair components. These cracks are a natural response of the oak to its environment and, when conditions become more humid, the cracks will close. Our outdoor furniture has been engineered to allow for changes to the timber’s dimensions, including both swelling and cracking, so the cracks will not affect the structural integrity of the furniture.
